CIP System for Kalundborg Forsyning
PTI has designed and constructed the CIP system for Denmark’s largest heat pump plant at Kalundborg Forsyning to date.
The heat exchanger system itself was designed and built by Aktive Energi Anlæg A/S. PTI provided consultancy to Aktive Energi Anlæg in the construction of the piping system and dimensioning of the CIP pipes.
The system is built as a circulation system with a balance tank and circulation pump. PTI was responsible for the local control, which was carried out in collaboration with Uni-El.
Dimensioning
The system is dimensioned for the task, considering the relatively long operating times expected for each heat exchanger between cleanings.
The heat exchanger part is designed for very large water volumes. During cleaning, this is not a problem, but one of the significant challenges is handling the filling and emptying of the CIP system without having to execute the water supply and drainage system in full scale. For a system of this type, full scale would make the installation costs disproportionally large compared to the savings that could be achieved.
Design
Based on PTI’s solid expertise in constructing process plants, the system is designed with a compact, logical, and easily understandable layout.
The system is designed as a transportable unit where almost all components are mounted within a defined area.
Aktive Energi Anlæg chose to purchase valves. The other components were selected in collaboration with Aktive Energi Anlæg and purchased by PTI.
Manufacturing/Assembly
The CIP system was manufactured, prewired, and tested at PTI’s own workshop before being shipped to the heating plant in Kalundborg.
After the system was connected on-site and underwent a brief commissioning, it was delivered fully functional.
