Hygienic Electrical Box for Safety Switches and AS-I Components

The electrical box is specially designed for hygienic and/or wet production environments in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Available in several versions for use with safety switches for electric motors and AS-Interface components (or similar automation components).

Hygienic Design

The design has no horizontal surfaces and meets all the requirements in the Danish Material Network’s (formerly Steel Center) recommendations for hygienic design of cable routing and electrical cabinets.

EMC Shielding

The metal construction of the electrical box functions as an EMC shield and connects the shielded cables.

Very suitable for use with frequency-controlled motors.
The switch does NOT need to be EMC classified.

User-friendly and Robust

The unique angled design provides extra space during mounting. The screws remain loosely attached to the front plate when the boxes are separated. There are holes for cable entries, minimizing the electrician’s time spent on punching holes. The metal construction makes the box very robust against impacts, shocks, collisions, and chemical effects.

The electrical boxes have been developed in collaboration with electricians and service personnel in the food industry.

Materials

Made of Acid-resistant stainless steel (AISI 316/EN 1.4404) with a ground surface.

The box is sealed with an EPDM gasket, which is resistant to most environmental effects.

Tightness and EMC Damping

Tightness class IP65.

EMC damping of at least 30 dB in the range up to 100 MHz.

To achieve the above tightness class and EMC damping, cable glands that at least meet the same requirements for tightness and EMC damping MUST be used.

Additionally, cable shields must be correctly installed and connected to achieve the desired effect.
